Notes:
"If you are not very familar with Lovetown, then you are in for a treat. The 1st Leg Lovetown shows in Australia and New Zealand were U2 at their best. The band played with more passion and energy than ever before. Setlists were totally mixed up every night and improvisation was not uncommon. Unfortunatly not many people recognise Lovetown for what it was due to the lack of good recordings (specifically the 1st leg). Recently a member of this site called George aka boyacrobat posted a message saying that he taped almost every Melbourne Lovetown show with the exception of the 9th. He also taped a couple of Sydney shows I believe. Anyway these tapes were kept hidden from the U2 trading community for almost 2 decades.
George got a copy of the infamous "Rocks Hottest Ticket" Chicago bootleg around 3 months after it was recorded, this recording inspired him to tape these shows with a goal of getting something that sounds even better than that famous Chicago recording.
This recording misses out on the last 3 songs because George used another tape to record them, unfortunatly he misplaced this tape so the show is incomplete. This is a very good recording however George has repeatedly told me that the quality of recordings get better as the nights go on.
The music here has not been "cleaned" in any way, what was recorded is what you get. It is requested that if anyone does any remastering, creates a matrix with other available versions, etc, that they kindly send boyacrobat aka George a copy of their work. George has told me a few cool stories about these recordings but I will save those for later."

Notes:
"JEMS master recording. This is an excellent sounding recording. This show captures Jethro Tull touring in support of their War Child album. This recording has circulated for years but this is the first time the master reels have ever been properly digitized (April 2010). This is an excellent show and performance with an early taste of an excerpt of Minstrel In The Gallery which would not be released until later in 75. Ian's in between song banter at this show is as entertaining if not more entertaining than music. Also of note this show took place on the 25th of July not the 27th as some other sources have speculated in the past."

Remaster:
1. Create stereo image. 2. Adjust Tonality/EQ. 3. Adjust dynamics. 4. Adjust speed. 5. Repair tape change/flip. 6. Re-track.

Bootleg: "Melbourne Memoirs 7.10.89 VOLUME 1"

Taper: Boyacrobat/George
Location: Second row balcony behind the stage between Bono and The Edge.

Notes:
"This is the second of the treasures boyacrobat has generously made available to our community. These have been in his sole possession all of these past 17 years, have NEVER been circulated to ANYONE! He indicates that all of the Lovetown shows he recorded involved use of a Toshiba recording device with a stereo line in t shape looking clip-on microphone. He did testing prior at band rehearsals and local gigs to find the optimal results using stockings, and wrapped around mics which proved most effective for this set-up. CD1 starts with the beginning strains of Where the Streets Have No Name, finishing with All I Want Is You. CD2 fades in with the crowd and Bono's speech, then People Get Ready and onwards. During People Get Ready, boyacrobat got bumped and had to restart, losing five or six seconds (at 3:33). At 6:38 the master tape jammed, creasing the tape and leaving its footprints on record for eternity".

12. With Or Without You

* Snippet

Per Pimm:
"In 1984 U2 played five concerts in Melbourne, this time it's seven in a venue twice as big. At first only two shows are cautiously put on sale, then another three, and another two as ticket demand seems inexhaustible. An eighth show for October 17 is printed in the official tour book but does not take place. Bono dedicates Bad to a friend of the band who should have attended the show but has died in a car crash. During Running to Stand Still Bono substitutes the line 'step out of the driving rain' with 'can't get me no jet plane', referring to a pilots' strike which has thrown Australian air travel into chaos. At the end of the song he sings a brief chorus of Waltzing Matilda, which the audience finish for him."
He indicates that the October 8, 1989 show is better than this show, and that the October 12, 1989 show is even better than that.  The music here has not been "cleaned" in any way, what was recorded is what you get. It is requested that if anyone does any remastering, creates a matrix with other available versions, etc, that they kindly send boyacrobat a copy of their work."
