U2 - 1987-11-07 - Denver, CO (SBD - SHN)

U2 - 1987-11-07 - Denver, CO (SBD - SHN)
Venue: McNichols Arena
Denver, CO

Bootleg: "Mountains and Deserts Platinum Ed"
Remastered by currygoat11 - 1/11/04

Source: SBD (allegedly from Rattle & Hum video outtakes from)

Notes:
"11/7/87 is arguably the best SBD Joshua show. There are several different productions of this recording (Enjoy, Mountains in a Blue Sky, Mountains and Deserts Remastered, Caught On 35mm, etc).  Well, this version (Platinum Ed) is the cream of the crop in my opinion. This version was remastered directly from a copy of Mountains and Deserts.

Remaster Notes by Currygoat11:
"Most improvements include: removal of oodles of clicks and pops, smooth transition between tracks where possible, patching in a couple of missing seconds in October, making Star Spangled Banner
its own track, better equalization of "40". There's a peak of treble at ~15,800Hz. This is normally not a problem whatsoever unless you crank your treble up (which you shouldn't do!). I ended up not
removing this band of treble. Most people have different opinions on which version of 11/7/87 is the "best"; "Mountains and Deserts Remastered" is very good; well this is my interpretation of the best;
if you don't find it to your liking, you can always just delete it now can't you? Truly, a grade A+ full-show SBD recording from the Joshua Tree tour - can't go wrong with this."

Rush - 1984-06-25 - Milwaukee, WI (SHN)

Rush - 1984-06-25 - Milwaukee, WI (SHN)
Venue: Mecca Arena

Media: 2 CDr Audio
Bootleg: Experience To Extremes Remastered
Catalog: Atlas Productions: AP006
Excellent Audience

Digital Rush Experience Average Rating: Audio: 8

Remaster notes:
"I spent quite a bit of time getting this to the correct speed. I'm confident that I have it down to +/- 1/10th of a percent. The original ran a bit over 2% too fast. I made no EQ adjustments as it needed none. I raised the volume a bit, fixed the indexing and dumped the bonus tracks". (Galt_Speaks)

DRE Comments:
"This is definatly a nice show, nice energy, and a nice performance overall. The sound quality is near perfect, but only at the first few songs that the crowd is a little louder than the band themselves. This is definatly up there with a few of the other shows I have found, and it really rivals the soundboard Fear on the 9/21/84 show, becuase the sound qaulity is really just that great. This is a bootleg that you need right away if you don't have it already".  Eric (Audio - 9 / 2009-01-01)

"Awesome sounding bootleg. The band puts on a great show. Highlights are The Enemy Within, Afterimage, The Weapon, and Between The Wheels. My favorite show from the GUP tour". Meir Weinberg (Audio - 9 / 2005-02-21)

"Great AUDIENCE recording. This Remaster fixes few flaws in the original Prism release. I recall a discussion while back where Mike Bahr (Prism) used the Intro/TSoR (first portion) from the GUP Video. You can hear the transition from the SBD source > AUD recording. According to the taper, this show was taped using AKG 460b > Sony WM-D5M. The recording is rich with deep bass and good midrange punch. I think the highs are just a bit too harsh (most likely from the original Prism's EQ). This is by far the BEST audience tape from the GUP tour, closely followed by Reno and Atlanta". Rush - 1992-04-17 - Run Faster, London (SBD - SHN)
Venue: Wembley Arena, London, England

Bootleg: Run Faster
Catalog: Scarred Records
Source: Soundboard
Date: April 17, 1992

Digital Rush Experience Average Rating: Audio: 9.75

Comments:
"This CD is a remake of a bootleg entitled Run From The Fans. It is widely known that the original runs about 5% slow. This re-release speeds it up to normal. This is really an excellent sounding bootleg" (Brent's bootlegs)

"Possibly the best sounding bootleg out there. This is one of my favorites. I think this sounds even better than Different Stages. The only beef I have with this is that it's not long enough. Still, it has Ghost of a Chance and Superconductor on it, and having great sounding versions of these songs makes this worth it without a doubt". (Nate Hertzog (Audio - 10)

"Run Faster is definitely one of the best sounding Rush soundboard releases. It is too bad the whole show is not available. The highlight is an excellent live version of Ghost of a Chance". (Northern Reflections (Audio - 10)

Yes - 1976-06-17 - Jersey City, NJ (SHN Remaster FM Broadcast)

Yes - 1976-06-17 - Jersey City, NJ (SHN Remaster FM Broad)
Venue: Roosevelt Stadium
FM Broadcast
Remaster by the Progressive Rock Remaster Project
Size: 888 MB

Lineage: SBD > "Master FM" (unknown media) > remastered by SMT using unknown software > PRRP ReMastering*>SHN

Notes from the Remaster:

"Since the source for this concert is a radio broadcast, the sound quality is generally good to begin with. The actual source was a CD version of the master tapes obtained from the broadcasting radio station WNEW. We would like to thank Shaun Toole for providing his remastered source to us for this project.
Viable music signal was present up to 18,000 Hz. This is quite rare for progressive rock concerts available from the 1970’s and makes this recording quite unique. A radio transmission or microphone / patch cord buzz occurred in the left channel off and on throughout the show and needed to be corrected. Fortunately, the buzz was specifically identified in the frequency spectrum and was surgically attacked. This approach produced a minimal effect on the remainder of the music. Pops and clicks occurred frequently and were manually removed. Radio announcer volume was out of proportion to the music in some segments and needed to be adjusted. Finally, only a slight amount of noise reduction was needed during quite segments."
*From the Progressive Rock Remaster Project:

Remaster notes²:
"All remastered works are made with Cool Edit Audio Processing Software. When the source is a CD, The music is ripped using Exact Audio Copy software. 6-Head Hi-Fi VCR is used when the source is video tape. An Onkyo cassette deck is used for cassette tapes and monster cables connect the sources to the Sound Blaster  Audigy computer sound card. This allows 24 bit A/D conversion. The system itself is (was) a Dell Pentium IV running at 2.8GHz."

The crowd loved it. It was a perfect night at at the Bell Centre". From Cygnus-x1

Comments on DRE:
"Absolutely superb recording! This is probably good enough to be passed as an official live album, the quality is so good. (But it's not. ONLY FOR FREE TRADE.) The Analog Kid from this boot appeared on Different Stages (official live album), so that just goes to show how great this boot really is. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed (or if it was just my copy?) but at the end of Limelight on disc 1 when it's fading out, you can hear Mystic Rhythms starting. Oh well, I fixed it anyway. Definitely an essential Rush bootleg!" (Jordan - Audio rate: 9.5)
